Sherry Rogers-Harrison

Hi Everyone,

Many people think that AMQF is just for machine quilters, and although that is certainly our focus, I believe that the festival has something for everyone.  With that in mind, today I want to introduce you to Sherry Rogers- Harrison.

Sherry Rogers- Harrison

Sherry comes from Washington State and has been a professional machine quilter since 1995 and has been teaching since 1997.  She is an amazing machine quilter and has won many awards for her work.

When Sherry joins us in Adelaide for the Festival she will be sharing with us her fabulous Inklique technique for inking quilts with pigmented paints, permanent ink pens and coloured pencils to enhance wholecloth quilts.  Sherry’s classes are going to be so much fun! And you don't need to be a machine quilter to participate.

The first class is an introduction to Inklique and is in a lecture/demonstration format, where Sherry will be presenting a slide show of her magnificent quilts and taking you through the design process and technique involved in Inklique.

Can you believe this isn't applique?  It's a quilted wholecloth inked!  You could learn to do this in Sherry's class.

The second two classes that Sherry is offering is where the fun really begins because they are 6 hours of hands on colouring!  In these classes, Paint-lique and Colour it Done!, you will receive a kit that includes a mini wholecloth quilt already stitched out and ready for you to colour plus the pigments you need to do it.  (Exact kit details can be found here).  I for one am really looking forward to this class – everything is provided for you – no machines to worry about – just the opportunity to sit back and enjoy colouring a beautiful wholecloth mini.  It sounds so relaxing.

Here are some photos of class samples from previous classes and kits that Sherry has available on her website.  Please note that these may not be the exact projects you will be making with Sherry – but rest assured that the class projects will be gorgeous!

You can find more information about Sherry and her quilts at her website.

I will be back soon to talk about Michele Turner’s classes.

All the best,

Shontelle.
